Area Description

Virginia's Guesthouse is situated on Henry Street in the centre of Kenmare town; on the famous Ring of Kerry. It is within a short walk of Kenmare Golf Club; the Stone Circle and the main town square. The Killarney National Park; the Killarney Lakes and the beautiful Ring of Beara are within a 30 minute drive of Virginia's Guesthouse.

Dining Facilities

Mulcahy's Restaurant on the ground floor of the building offers fine cuisine. Chef Bruce Mulcahy has recently been voted one of the top 10 chefs in Munster and was named as the best chef in Kenmare by the Irish Times. Breakfast at Virginia's includes all home-baked breads and home-made relishes; preserves & marmalades. The breakfast menu includes a wide variety of dishes offering traditional Irish choices as well as several other 'different' dishes.

Local Attractions

Situated at the head of Kenmare Bay and nestling between the Cork and Kerry moutains; Kenmare is a charming town in the south west of Ireland. Brightly coloured buildings line the streets; giving the town a welcoming and appealing air. The town was founded in 1670 by Sir William Petty and preserves many of its original features which led the Irish Tourist Board; Bord Failte; to bestow upon it the title of Kerry's first heritage town. The town's position makes it an ideal base from which to tour the Ring of Kerry or the rugged Ring of Beara. Kenmare is well known for its gourmet food and the town is filled with restaurants; pubs and hotels offering a high stanadard of food and accommodation. Kenmare is also famous for lace making which you can see being made in the Heritage Centre. The Killarney National Park and Lakes are within a 30 minute drive of Kenmare and the Dingle Peninsula with its fabulous sandy beaches and quaint towns is a must for all visitors.
