Local Attractions
The Wicklow Mountains are famous for fabulous scenery which is provided by the rocky glens; forests; bogland and heather-coloured hills. Walkers can enjoy the Wicklow Way which is 132 km long and runs from Dublin to County Carlow. The Vale of Avoca is home to the Avoca Handweavers. Here the famous colourful tweed fabrics are produced in one of the oldest mills in Ireland. There is also a shop and award winning cafe at the mill. Close to Aughrim is Avondale House; a Georgian mansion with impressive grounds and famous arboretum. There are lovely walks to be taken through the woods. Just outside Dublin is Powerscourt with some of the finest gardens in Ireland. Visitors here can walk around Triton Lake; the Japanese Gardens and trip down the Perron; a magnificent Italianate stairway that leads to the lake.
