Three in One Adventure at Aran Islands > View Clare articles
In Ireland lie a number of islands that capture the genuine Gaelic legacy, Irish ethnicity, notable custom and Ireland’s rich past. These are ageless land forms overlying the infinite vastness of the sea. Your trip to Co. Clare should not be sealed complete without a visit to Aran Islands – the name they give for these lands.

Aran Islands have three main islands all worth your precious time. The largest island with a length of 13km is the Inis Mórin or the Inishmore. Ionad Arainn, the visitor’s center will take you into the past of Inishmore. You will have the chance to witness the remarkable and interesting remains of Arkin's Castle, a low castle beside the shore. Additional places to visit while on this island is the Saint Ciaran's Monastery with its amazing cross slabs and pillars. Still a proof to this place’s religious life, you can marvel at the Saint Soorney's Church and the Church of Saint Enda. If you have but a limited time to spend in this island, make the great stone fortress Dun Aonghasa a priority to visit. The structure of the fortress is what will amaze you greatly. The best way to tour around this island is through cycling. You can rent some bikes along the island to discover on your own every mystery untold in this part of the world.

You would not like the idea of being limited to something when you know you could have more, right? Same as this adventure, you would not like the idea of having to visit only one island when you know you should have three to complete. The second island is as equally as gorgeous as the first one in terms of scenery, nature’s treasures and historical touches. Inishmaan or the “middle island” is also rich in ancient monuments that depict clearly the long-ago life of the people here. Head you way to the ancient Kilcanonagh Church to relive the religious days of the island. An excellent spots to visit – talking about ancients, pasts and histories- are the15th century Templemurray and fragments of Templeshaghtmacree If you seem to crave for more, you can still stir up your history passion at the Church of the King's Seven Sons. The magnificent oval stone fort of Dun Chonchubhair highlights this island. What more would you ask for when all ancient’s beauty are set right before you?

The smallest island yet definitely of equal grandeur as the first two waits for you to explore. Inis Óirr or the Inishere is the most ideal island to stay for fun and adventure. In here you have the rarest chance to get connected with the most exotic kinds of flora and fauna. As this island is rich in history as well, you surely would find monuments testifying to this. Famous places to visit while in Inishere are the St. Kevin’s Church and the Teampall Chaomhain.

One adventure, three islands. What could be greater than a vacation like this?
