Here is a quick overview of what awaits you in Cork all year round. For decades, top musicians from across the country gather in the Cork’s City Hall to perform for the annual Cork International Choral Festival held every 26th to 30th of April.
Let your creative juices flow every 1st of May, which also marks the beginning of summer, for the Beltaine 2006. This festival gathers a number of legendary performers in Ireland to exhibit the famous Irish way of drums, songs and dances.
It is truly the best season for any art-fashioned individual to take part in the Rosscarbery Arts and Literature Festival where the finest workmanship of the most prominent artists in West Cork are exhibited every 5th to 7th of May.
Party is free in the streets every 17th to 19th of May for the Cork Saint Patrick’s Festival. Be entertained with a two-day celebration featuring sidesplitting street parades, street theater, lively music, traditional genuine Irish food and how could I forget the exciting display of fireworks! And more music on the 2nd to 4th of June for the Bandon Music Festival, when you can enjoy the night from local participating pubs and listen to some contemporary or traditional Irish music.
Feel the adrenaline rush on the 11th of June for the annual Clonakilty Agricultural Show. This year’s festival features one of the country’s top motor bike teams, UKFMX Team, alongside the other exhilarating games such as Trotting and Sulky Racing, Tug-o-War, Macra na Feirme plus more.
On 21st to 23rd of July, Co. Cork welcomes the family for a fun marathon ranging from on-street entertainment to sporting events such as Triathlon, Raft Race, Puc Fada etc. If your family enjoyed it on July, you will certainly love August when the Bere Island Festival is happening. More fun and activities geared for the whole members of the family including water sports, canoe racing and greasy poles. There are still several festivals catered for the family and some of these are Ballydehob Summer Festival, Fun Fish Fermoy Festival, Rosscarbery Family Festival – all these happening on August.
The beginning of September marks the start of the Cape Clear Island International Storytelling Festival, where participants can sit back and be appeased with good stories plus remarkable music all done in a serene and beauteous island setting.
Get yourselves in the groove for some Jazz music and hop on to Cork on October, the peak month for jazz fever. Whether you are a youth or an adult, you will surely sway with the beat during the Cork International Jazz Festival and Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival.
From music, to dance, to theater to arts and to sports – Co. Cork is always festive all throughout the year.
