South Dublin - Your Gateway to Paradise > View Dublin articles
South Dublin has earned a county status by virtue of the Local Government Act 1993. This county was once named Belgard but was changed to its present name when it was transformed into an administrative county. South Dublin is bordered by the other counties in the Dublin Region along with Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin City.

South Dublin can be well enjoyed through its towns and villages, each gifted with distinctive appeals. It has a number of towns worth a visit while you are along the Dublin Region. Ballyboden extends to its guests its GAA appeal owing it to Ballyboden St, Enda’s Club. Aside from this, you can catch a glimpse of a superb view along the area of this town.

Clondalkin or the “Dolcan’s Meadow” is the town to go for some historical feel. It shelters the 8th century Round Tower which is considered to be one of the oldest surviving towers in the country. This town has made a dramatic progression to a setting full of activities. It has developed itself as one of the centers for industry and commerce all throughout South Dublin. Enjoy a vibrant pace of life as you head your way to Clondalkin.

Fox and Geese has its own incomparable attractions offered to tourists. You can feast your eyes on a beauty so divine and preserved in this area of South Dublin. At Greenhills, on the other hand, you can take delight in a remarkably built up Tymon Park. River Poddle and some man made lakes serve as the park’s stunning backdrop. The sights that surround Tymon are already an attraction in every sense of it. Equally spectacular village is the Jobstown.

Lucan takes pride in its medieval setting and its contemporary housing attraction. Other vibrant towns of South Dublin are Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart and Ronanstown. For some exhilarating activities, you can maneuver your way to Rathfarnham. This is the prime setting to enjoy a historical tour of some ancient structures in the area, indulge in relaxing journey to its stunning parks, thrill over a night out in an array of pubs and bars, and play golf in a venue second to none.

Would you like to visit the most costly pub in Ireland? Then plan a visit to Templeogue where you can find the Templeogue Inn or most commonly known as “The Morgue”. And don’t worry the “most expensive” description was only applicable during the 1980s.

If you plan to catch the St. Patrick’s Parade, then certain enough, you need to be in Tallaght. Are you fond of shopping while on a vacation? You are in the right place here since Tallaght is the home of “The Square”, one of Ireland’s biggest shopping centers. This town also extends numerous hotels for guests to stay over for a night or two.
