Ring of Kerry - Getting Around the County > View Kerry articles
The Ring of Kerry is a circular trail comprised of 170 kilometers coverage. This route takes tourists to Kerry’s undisturbed heritage and beauty. It passes along this county’s most scenic sites and splendid settings. Along the route, Kerry’s prides can be well cherished and experienced.

The Ring of Kerry blasts off and ends at the picturesque town of Killarney. The town, which is perfectly situated in a deep valley, is an attraction in itself. Killarney is the spot to go for a tour around some significant historical sites including the St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey. It provides tourists with an unmatched panorama as it rests adjacent to the Lakes of Killarney. The Killarney National Park is a prime appeal here, as well.

The Ring continues around the Iveragh peninsula with its equally alluring setting. The view that surrounds the peninsula is of superb quality and it would be a sin to miss a single view here. The peninsula’s centerpiece is nonetheless the famous McGillycuddy's Reeks. This mountain range includes the impressive Carrauntoohill, which is regarded as the highest peak in Ireland.

The Ring of Kerry passes along the small yet quaint town of Kenmare. There is certainly no shortage of appeals to see in this town. And the neatness of the town is sure to impress anyone. Fact: This town was the recipient of Ireland’s Tidiest Town Award in 2000.

The town of Sneem still counts part of the Ring of Kerry. Its panoramic location is owed to the River Sneem, the town being situated in the estuary of this river. Also termed as the “Knot”, Sneem offers unparalleled beauty and enchantment.

Along the ring, travelers who take the Ring of Kerry will pass through the town of Waterville. The magnificent Lough Curran lies on the eastern part of this town and the impressive Ballinskelligs Bay fringes its west portion. This forms a significant part of the trail.

The enthralling towns of Cahersiveen and Killorglin also form part of the Ring of Kerry. The latter takes pride in its location on the River Laune and as such, it abounds in quite a number of river activities. This town also hosts the Puck Fair happening annually specifically on the inclusive dates of August 10-12.

The Ring of Kerry is an incomparable way of going around Co. Kerry. This is an excellent trail to take on for a perceptive and appreciative tour of Co. Kerry.
