All the pain is worth the gain when you reach the top of the highest cliff face in Europe and marvel at the panoramic view from there. So many wondrous things have been written about Slieve League based on real experiences of people, yet as far as anyone who has gone to the top, nothing can quite completely match the satisfaction that one can only feel once at the summit.

It is undoubtedly a major excitement to be standing in Europe’s highest cliff with an imposing height of 1972 feet above the ground. However the real reward of climbing does not come from just being able to ascend to the apex; the real reward is the outstanding scenery and atmosphere at the peak of the mountain. The pay off for your effort will absolutely exceed your expectation, imagine a crisp of fresh cold clouds soothing your tired body and looking down seeing how far you have come and how everything big becomes tiny little dots and now only a part of that wonderful view you are enjoying.

For those who find pleasure in adventures that are aquatically oriented, embark on a trip to the Glenevin Waterfall. The trek to the waterfalls is not as strenuous as hiking a mountain, so it gives you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature in a slower relaxed attitude. The Glenevin waterfall is very ideal for leisurely walks and strolls and is a perfect tourist destination indeed. Take this time to just relax and unwind while taking pleasure in a magnificent view of 30-ft tall waterfalls.

You may even take your leisure plan to a beach where you can either go swimming or fishing or both. The Downing Beach is the peninsula’s main fishing pier where you can regularly catch boats dock with their catches of salmon, lobster, crab and turbot. Fishing is as easy as fishing off a rock on either side of the beach. This beach is an excellent choice of a family outing location since you can bring your kids and not worry about their safety because the waters are clear and shallow. Adults, who are up for a more challenging activity, may explore the beach caves and participate in various water sports.

There are even more natural allures worth visiting in Co. Donegal. You may need quite some time to include all of these attractions in your itinerary but even years of exploration in this wondrous county are all worth it.
