It may not be a fancy feast, but whenever flowers and trees sway in one melodious beat under the mellow skies, you know that nothing really surpasses the good old pastime of visiting gardens. Kerry is a place full of wonderful surprises. Even if you are not so much of a garden enthusiast, take some time to drop by at the alluring and charming gardens of Kerry, and for sure you will always find something that would appear as glitter in your eyes. Here are two beautiful gardens you shouldn’t miss.
At the Hotel Dunloe Castle, you can approach the enthralling garden with its rarest collection of ornamental species all over Ireland. Be welcomed by the smell of fragrant, sweet scented flowers here. Rather very impressive about the extensive collection is that some of these precious gems are actually grown since 1920’s and 1930’s. Wonder what sort of prides are on the pedestal here at Dunloe Gardens? A tour around the garden will take you to the Chilean fir trees, Australian gums, South African lilies, New Zealand cabbage trees, New Zealand cherries, Japanese maples, North American dogwoods, South American fuchsias and Killarney strawberry tree. Then venture out to the sheltered grounds where you can find camellias, magnolias, roses, rhododendrons and the exotic specimens like the “headache tree” and Chinese swamp cypress bloom.
From the garden in the castle, let’s travel to another splendid spot in Kerry, the Derreen gardens. Being a woodland garden, we will know that the place is a very ideal vegetation area to grow plants. The luxurious ninety acre peninsula amidst the Caha Mountains abounds with productive spots for a plantation. A simple yet elegant nineteenth century house can justifiably be categorized as a fashion house. This is due to the fact that it houses an aesthetic set of floras which include Himalayan rhododendrons, R. sinogrande, Japanese Thujopsis dolabrata, Pinus patula and Japanese cypress. The sweeping land formations in the garden are quite notable and add to its distinctive and unique feature. While walking along the trails, you will be able to catch panoramic views of the Broad Walk on the north of the peninsula.
Like they always say, flowers speak a different tune - more often quite alluring although sometimes deceiving. No wonder why flowers are attributed to the feminine side. It generally speaks of beauty and bliss and never of the opposite. Experience these inviting temptations only through a visit to the gardens at Kerry. After all, a little bit of leisure walks along a blossom of flowers and trees can never be too good for you to lose your touch with the real world.
