One worth a try is the Aran Ways. The Aran Islands is, in point of fact, comprised of three distinct islands. They all rest on the mouth of the Galway Bay. Each of these islands has their own enticing walk ways – the longest route of which is the Inis Mor Way which involves a 50km length. Walking along the Aran Islands will take you into a better understanding of the traditional Irish life. On view, as well, are some historical artifacts plus a load of natural scenery.
Partake in the walk along the Western Galway Trail for some action-packed walking adventure. The activity starts off at Oughterard continuing to Lough Corrib – the picturesque lough at the north of Galway. From here, you will be taken on to Maam then led on to Maum Turks and Twelve Bens. The exquisiteness of the surrounding will be accompanying you all the way to Killary Harbour and the crossroad near Leenaun. If you indulge in this way, expect for some sweat-filled hours along the 50kms route.
The Connemara way is a must-walk route while at Galway. This is a 387 km route with Cnoc Mordain as the highest point standing 345m. Following this trail will lead you to Galway City, Spiddle, Carraroe, Ros Muc, Carna, Letterfrack, Leenaun and Clonbur. You can justifiably expect for the finest surrounding all along the length of the walk.
The intriguing and historical island of the Whitecow in Inishbofin, Galway also extends its walking appeal to serious and engrossed walkers. The area along the route is steep in history being a home to some medieval forts. Interested walkers must meet with the other walking buffs at the Island House, Cleggan Pier and at the New Pier in Inishbofin.
The Aran Way, Western Galway Trail, Connemara Way and the Island of the Whitecow form part of the Galway walking attraction. These walking trails must never be left out as you plan your itinerary of stay in Galway, Ireland.
