Béal Feirste, or what we commonly known as Belfast City, is considered as the second largest city in Ireland – next to Dublin. It serves as the capital of Northern Ireland. Its name means the mouth of the Farset. Farset is a river tributary of the River Lagan. The city rests on the boundary of Co. Antrim and Co. Down.
Belfast City has been weathered by history. The early historical records of the city’s location dates back as far as the Bronze Age, though, the city has only been created in 1921. Belfast has also been a mute witness to the trouble times of Northern Ireland. To date, there are still significant historical remnants scattered all around the city’s grounds. Some worth a visit includes the Belfast Cathedral, some hill forts and museums.
Belfast City has continuously been a prime tourist destination in Ireland. It holds numerous focal points of interest. These attractions will enchant and amaze even the frequent visitors of the city. The Ulster Museum and the Home Front Heritage Center are unrivaled spots for some historic visit. Literary enthusiasts will undoubtedly take delight at the city’s Linen Hall Library situated close to the city hall. There are countless collections of Irish masterpieces to enjoy here. The adventurous travelers will take pleasure climbing the Cave Hill. This is an exceptional site for tourists who wish to get a scenic view of the city. The Cave Hill is also the home to MacArt’s Fort.
There are great pubs to enjoy a night at Belfast. The city extends out its life to tourists through these notable pubs and bars sprinkled everywhere. Pubs and bars like the Duke of York, Kellys Cellars, Kitchen Bar, Murrisons, Rotterdam, Laverys, the Crown Liquor Salon, Front Page and Frames Too Little are some of the highly visited night spots due to their excellent entertainment offer and the exceptional food and drinks on the menu.
