Portumna is what the Irish termed as “Port Omna” which means port of the oak when translated in English. This town in Co. Galway, Ireland meanders on a strategic setting at the head of the magnificent Lough Derg, just where the Shannon River make its way into the lough.

What's more, Portumna is an ideal setting for a cruise. While here, the grand Lough Derg invites tourists to a pleasing cruise amidst the greenest and teeming landscape that backdrop it. This town has an excellent water attraction perfect for angling and fishing. The Shannon River and the northern shores of Lough Derg are leading angling spots here.
